Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), distanced his organization on Saturday from a statement by his father, former president Asif Ali Zardari, urging the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold elections once the delimitation of constituencies has been completed.
Earlier in the day, PPP co-chairman Zardari stated that a new delimitation as part of the 2023 census was required and that he had complete faith in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Notwithstanding, the PPP after a focal chief board (CEC) meeting on August 25 requested that surveys be held in no less than 90 days as obliged by the Constitution.
Bilawal, chairman of the PPP, was questioned about the divergent perspectives on elections held by Zardari and him at a press conference in Badin.
Bilawal instructed the reporter to inquire about Zardari's meaning at this point.

On August 9, the government led by Shehbaz Sharif dissolved the National Assembly, and the assemblies in Sindh and Balochistan were also dissolved prematurely to allow the electoral authority to hold elections in the country within 90 days rather than 60 days if the legislature completed its constitutional term.
